On August 7, 2009 DesertXpress issued a Request for Statement of Qualifications to serve as the Implementation Team for the DesertXpress project. This $4B project will be implemented with the following key elements:

• 150-MPH (250 km/hr) steel wheel on steel rail, state-of-the-art high speed train technology
• Approximately 185 miles (about 300 km) exclusive all new double track system with express service between the Victorville and Las Vegas stations
• No shared tracks with freight or any other passenger rail system
• No at-grade vehicle or pedestrian crossings
• Majority of the alignment is within or adjacent to the existing I-15 freeway

Qualification Statements were received on October 5th, 2009; and the Request for Proposals was issued to the qualified teams on December 23, 2009.
